Solution:

  1. Start with 48
  2. Lost 6  (1/8 of 48 =s 6)
  3. Gave 8 to a friend   (1/6 of 48 is 8)
  4. 48 – 6 – 8
  5. = 48 – 14
  6. = 34

Solution:

  • 18 out of 4 students voted for the roller coaster
  • 18/24 voted or roller coaster
  • ¾ voted or roller coaster (because 18=6×3 and 24=6×4, so (6×3)/(6×4)…and the =ixes cancel)
